9 PM to 1 AM

What is a no phone party?

A party where everyone agrees to keep their phone away until it ends. With CoPact, the host plans 9 PM to 1 AM, and up to 20 people in all join one block, each on their own iPhone. Every app but their Always Allowed ones stays shut until 1 AM. Each guest needs their own trial or subscription.

How to throw a phone free party

  1. 1 Make a crew for the night Send its link, or put its QR code on the invite. Up to 20 people in all, you included, each on their own iPhone.
  2. 2 Plan 9 PM to 1 AM As the crew’s owner, you plan it. Each guest answers Are you in? before the party, and saying in is what blocks their phone at 9 PM.
  3. 3 Late arrivals join on the way in Anyone in the crew can join while it runs, and their phone blocks until 1 AM. Under Strict, ending early takes more than half of the people still in it.

Why the basket at the door fails

Collecting phones at the door turns the host into security, and the basket empties as soon as someone needs a photo or a ride. Asking nicely lasts until someone wants a picture.

Leave the phones out and the room thins a few people at a time, each one somewhere else while standing in your kitchen.

What works

Put the hours on the invite, so everyone says yes to them before they arrive. Each guest keeps their own phone and their own Always Allowed apps, so a ride home stays a tap away.

The block holds on every phone that joined, with the app closed, after a force quit and through a restart. Nobody has to keep watch.

Questions.

Can I block my guests’ phones?

Not without them. Each guest joins the block on their own iPhone, and nobody can lock a phone that has not joined.

Does every guest have to pay?

Yes. Each guest needs their own trial or subscription: 7 days free for someone new to CoPact, then $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year.

How many people can join?

Up to 20 people in all, you included. Each person can be in up to 3 crews, so a guest already in three leaves one to join.

What if a guest needs a ride home?

Their Always Allowed apps stay open under every block, so a ride app or Maps stays a tap away if they put it there. The Emergency Pass opens every app for one hour, once every 7 days.

Send it to the people you’d do it with.

Better kept together.
